Your mind seeks words in the static burning from a radio
The noise is deafening, but you listen closely.
The twin fawns came to me in a dream some years ago. In the dream, I tried to save them from an unknown fate. Though I clung desperately, in the end, I lost them. They later returned to me as spirits, and I felt that my holding onto them had been a resistance to truth. A denial of a lie I wanted to believe when the reality was so much more beautiful.
As with many of my pieces featuring radios, this illustration is about peering through the static and noise to find the truth of oneself. Letting the lies that we might one day fit the moulds prepared for us at birth die at last.
This piece was using my own handmade watercolors.
